Friends to the End

For the Featured Stamper challenge over at SCS. This week it's DawnL who is featured. I cased this card, Blessings. I adored the flowers and leaves on her card, so I had to CASE it. The colors of cardstock are Ruby red and Naturals ivory. The designer paper is from Basic Grey, the Boxer line. I sponged the edges of the DSP with Close to cocoa ink and stitched around it. I ran a piece of ruby red thru my Cuttlebug and embossed it with the Distressed Stripes folder. I then tore the edges and sponged all over it also with the cocoa ink. Two colors of velvet ric rac, the sentiment from PTI's Mega Mixed Messages set punched out with the scallop oval punch and a few pearls were also added. The flowers I had were white primas so of course I sponged them to tone down the whiteness. I used two of my Martha Stewart leaf punches and started building. Thanks so much for the inspiration Dawn!!

Bible Verse Challenge

Okay, so it's the 28th of June and I am just now getting to this month's challenge -- well hey, it's still June though!!!!! I simply grabbed the first three In Colors of card stock in the pile to make this - Pacific point, Baja breeze (the one I will miss the most) and Tangerine tango. I decided to use a Top Note die cut that my DSS had sent...like a year ago!!! I used a PaperTrey Ink set called Life for the flowers and the verse came from Our Daily Bread's set Keep My Lamp Burning. The tangerine layer is embossed with the paisley folder and sponged with tangerine ink to make it pop. I also sponged with caramel ink around the die cut to tone down the white. The verse was cut out with a nestie but I didn't sponge that so it would stand out. Above it are some of the lovely Basic Grey pearls -- love 'em!! Three buttons tied with PTI linen thread and tangerine striped ribbon and it's complete -- at 2am this morning!!! I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't finish it. We stayed up watching "Ironman" which was very entertaining. I highly recommend it!

Is It Saturday Already?!

The weekdays simply fly by, and I can't seem to get any stamping done!!! This week I played taxi cab for my oldest son going back and forth to baseball camp.

My good friend Jan and her DH Jim just got a new puppy so I thought I'd send them a card. The inside sentiment, by American Art Stamps, reads "There is nothing better than to end a bad day covered in dog slobber." Thought that was too cute! The Dog House and Patch are by AMuse while the "congratulations" sentiment is Lockhart Stamps. Colored Patch with my copics, cut him out and popped him up. The dog house is also done in copics and I sponged on some blue sky and green grass. The cute designer paper is DCWV's Pet Stack. The bones are shiny and slightly raised. Oh my goodness, I just realized no embellishments have made it to this card!!!!! GASP!

DS wants to watch a movie now, we got "Ironman" with Netflix. Hope it's good because we haven't been picking such good ones lately.

Just Ducky

I had fun last nite playing with my stamps! I decided on this adorable Clear Dollar Stamps ducky from the set Cute Critters. My first go round of coloring him in ended up in the garbage - yep, it was that bad! I was much happier with this one! I added the raindrops then hand drew (mind you, I cannot draw! A bad thing when growing up and wanting to be a fashion designer!!!) the puddle. I wanted to put Crystal Effects on the puddle but my luck was running thin for the night so I decided to leave well enough alone!!! The card base is Bashful blue while everything else came out of my scrap bin! Not a quick and easy card I talked about in my last post, but a fun one just the same.

Quick and Easy Cards

You've all heard of Clean and Simple (CAS) cards, well I did last nite two Quick and Easy (QAE) cards. Don't know if the idea for them will catch on, but I had fun with it!!!!! I decided on two Stampendous stamps with sentiments that I haven't used in quite some time. I used my Copic markers to color in both images. Biker Bee got some sparkle on his wings and body. I used Purely pomegranate, Bashful blue, and White card stock along with a scrap piece of Cutie Pie DSP. The scallop edge punch is by Martha Stewart. I found a stash of ribbon that hasn't seen the light of day in a long time along with the flower brads that I hoped would look like stars. Since my sewing machine is set up at all times adding the stitching took no time at all.
Changito Pool Guy (don't you just love him?!) is so cute! I had to use him since vacation is only about six weeks away! He too got glittered up with some Stickles on the inner tube. Found the seashell brad also in stash of "something I couldn't live without but haven't put to use yet!" The colors for this one are Wild wasabi, Barely banana, Bashful blue, and White with the second scrap piece of Cutie Pie DSP I found. I am challenging myself this week (can only take baby steps on this) to not buy anything new until I use up some of what I've already got!!!!! Now that will be a challenge since I have several shopping carts on line already filled up with goodies!!! That will be my reward if I pass the test!!
Hope all the Fathers out there had a wonderful Father's Day! The boys and I asked DH this morning what he planned on doing today -- "Mow the grass" was his response. "Well you don't have to," we told him since his Father's Day gift was a weekly lawn mowing service for the summer!!! He was thrilled...and went golfing! Perfect!!

Hello Friendly Hummer!

Alright, it's bed time, but I wanted to post this card --- it's for a swap and I was afraid I would send it off to the hostess before taking a picture and putting on my blog. Do it now while you're thinking about it, right?! Anyway, it's a PaperTrey Ink swap, and I only buy from them a little!!!!! Try like every month!!! They just had a new release on the 15th and my order shipped yesterday!!!!! That's only one day!!!!! Can't wait to play. In the mean time I used the set Birds of a Feather for this one. Colors include chocolate chip, kiwi kiss, riding hood red (two in colors I am definitely going to miss!). I used SU's Bella Rose DSP as well as my sewing machine, gold brads, ribbon and stickles. Such a fun card! Now I can't wait to see what everyone else has done for the swap!!!!!

Out on a Limb

I can't believe how much time always seems to pass between my blog posts. I simply need more hours in a day to get everything done!!!!!

This card was just for fun, using PaperTrey Ink's set Out on a Limb. I stamped the branch on PTI's Kraft paper with Raspberry Fizz and New Leaf inks and Palette's Cognac for the branch itself. Liquid Pearls added a nice touch to the centers of the flowers. I bought several bottles of liquid pearls in various colors, and just today used them for the first time! I seem to say that about a lot of my must have purchases!!! Card stock colors include kraft, Pretty in pink and Chocolate chip. The designer paper is Basic Grey's Eva. I scallop punched the bottom edge and added a few silver brads. The sentiment is popped up several times.

Thanks again for stopping by. It's raining right now, something that we actually needed! Our road is being resurfaced so now we get to drive in mud! It's always something.

WAY TO GO PENS!!!

I could not be prouder than I am right now to say I am from Pittsburgh!!!!! Congrats to the Pittsburgh Penguins for winning the Stanley Cup! I've gotta admit though, I'm glad it's over, I don't think my heart could take much more of the excitement!!!!!!! Friday afternoon I received my SU order which included my complimentary copy of the new catalog. Well here I am, sitting in front of the TV watching game #7 trying to look at it. Needless to say, the catalog got closed and set aside! Too much excitement!! Then when the game ended, my son and I drove out to our local sporting goods store to be the first in line for Stanley Cup champ attire --- only to find out they wouldn't be opening until 7am Saturday morning!!!!!! Talk about disappointment!! I wanted to show up to work on Saturday with my champion shirt on!!!!!! Oh well!

Hugs & Kisses Always

This card is for a PaperTrey Ink swap I am in. I love that company!!! I buy from them...often!!! This set is called Heart Prints. Love it that the two sizes of hearts are of the same design. Immediately I thought of red and black; hope it doesn't look too Valentiney. I used Pure poppy, Black and White for colors. I found the ribbon in my stash and thought it was perfect. One down, only five more to go!!

Pens play tonight -- my fingers are crossed for a victory!!!!!!!

I Miss You Kitty

I have some very sad news, we had to put down our precious kitty Fred on Monday. We are very sad and miss him terribly. We've already been to two shelters looking for another cat with no luck. Our other cat Moonstruck is absolutely lost without him. We have been giving her some extra TLC which is helping all of us heal. Even though Fred was 13 years old, I still called him my kitty because when I would say "Here Kitty Kitty" he would come running.
In his memory, I made a kitty card. I used two sets from Clear Dollar Stamps, Mama Kitty and Kitty Toys. The sentiment is by TAC. Mama Kitty and her bed were stamped, colored in with Copic markers, cut out, and popped up. I love the fish bones in the Kitty Toys set so I had to include them somewhere. The designer paper is Die Cuts With a View's "The Pets Stack." I used scraps of card stock, some wide brown organdy ribbon and the lovely pearls by Kaiser Crafts.
I have some stamping to do this weekend so hopefully I will be out of my funk and have some cards to show. Thanks for stopping by and another big WooHoo for the Pens!!!!!
