Featured Stamper Card

The Featured Stamper this week is ScrapNExtras. She has a wonderful gallery. Why not head on over to SCS and check it out. I enjoy the Featured Stamper challenge because you get to case someone else's work. The only problem sometimes is deciding which card you want to case!!!!! I used stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms which I colored with watercolor pencils, outlined the flowers with a very light gray Tombow marker, then added dots around the main image as well as the scalloped circle. The designer papers are from the Hey Sugar line by Cosmo Cricket and most of the cardstock is Bazzill. I also used Groovy guava which is definitely not a favorite of mine but I'm trying to use it more. The ribbon is vanilla grosgrain and I added Dew Drops on the side circles. Oops, I almost forgot, here is the card of Laura's I cased: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/849103?cat=500&ppuser=18892

Thanks so much for looking. I've been slowly working on sprucing up my blog but I am so NOT computer savy it's taking me quite some time. I keep begging my 12 year old son to hurry up and learn all this so he can do it for me!!!!! I think I play second fiddle to all the sports he is so into watching on TV. After all, it is March madness for college basketball. Funny thing is, I hate basketball but DH, DS and I joined a b-ball pool where hubby works. The top three finishers of course win cash prizes as well the person who comes in last, they get their entrance fee back. Well that was my goal to get my money back but it's not working out for me. I have a chance of finishing in 2nd place!!!!! Yep, ahead of my two guys!! I haven't yet figured out if that's going to be a good thing or not!! I'll let you know!!!!!

Swap Angel

I enjoy the Different Kind Of Swap (DKOS) I've been involved with on SCS. Stamp sets or companies are suggested along with a recipe that gives specifics such a colors and embellishments that should appear on your cards. After that, the creativity is up to you. It's truly amazing what everyone comes up with when we all start out with the same initial ingredients.

I offered to be an angel for the "Always" group and here is my card. We needed to use Ruby red, Certainly celery, So saffron and/or Soft sky. Something had to be popped up along with a staple. I love the bird from this set so I decided to use the Rock & Roll technique as well as sponging around the edges. Print Pattern was used on half of the first layer to add some visual interest. The staples are at the top and bottom of the ribbon and the two circles are popped up on the scallop circle. I stamped on So saffron DSP using ruby red...seem to forget about doing that.

The next two weeks are going to be very hectic at work. I am a karate instructor (taekwondo) and we have our belt advancements coming up which is always a stressful time. I am also getting prepared to perform in front of my peers on my quest to test for my 4th degree black belt in February 2009. Sounds so far away but it will be here in no time. Now if I could just kick this cold I'd be off and running instead of just dragging my feet!!

March's Christmas Card Challenge

Yep, that's right, a Christmas card!!! I'm involved with the SCS Christmas card challenge to make 10 cards each month so you don't stress out closer to the holidays. This is my third year for doing this and it's absolutely wonderful. I pull out my stash of already completed cards and send away.

This card I used stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms (an truly wonderful site!!). I stamped Mr. Snowman in black then colored him in with watercolor pencils and a little sparkle thanks to Stickles. The snowflake was stamped using white craft ink on Going gray cardstock. Other colors include Basic gray, Whisper white, and Real red. The red strip thru the center of the card was run thru the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots embossing folder. A touch of ribbon and my cards for March are complete. Now, what to make for April!!!

Yes, I am Alive!!

Check out these three not overly embellished cards!!!!! I had stamped the flowers several weeks ago before getting sick (yes, again!) then only yesterday had the strength and desire to finish them. I need some birthday cards and made up my mind to make some without all those wonderful but bulky embellishments. I put my Cuttlebug embossing folders to use along with my Nestabilities. These flowers are from a set by TAC called Friendship Flowers. I colored them with markers, stamped them, then colored them in with markers or watercoloring. The sentiments are from Papertrey Ink. Its' fun to get back into the grove again. Thanks for looking.

Cuttlebug Swap Card

Yep, another swap card to share with you. This one needed to have a Cuttlebugged (is that a word?) item on it. I used the new Swiss Dots embossing folder (love it!!) for the top layer. I've been trying to use stamps that haven't seen much, if any, ink and Nursery Necessities fit the bill. The colors I used were Certainly celery, Pretty in Pink and Very vanilla. The star is stamped in Regal rose for a bit of pop and the lovely pomegranate wide satin ribbon provided the drama the pastel colors of the card so desperately needed.
Lots of stuff going on this week. I don't even know which end is up. I'm hoping to have some relaxing time over the Easter break. The school I teach taekwondo at will be closed Good Friday AND Saturday (hooray!!) which finally gives me some family time. Hope your week is going well and as always, thanks for stopping by.

Just Havin' Some Fun!

It was fun playing with my stamps last night. I have been so busy with other things I haven't had any time for fun. This month I held another stamp camp during the day -- 25 ladies total!!! Wowza!
This is the first this stamp set by GinaK Designs has seen any ink. I adore this giraffe. Colored her up with Prismacolor pencils -- they're becoming my favorite again. I found the designer paper in my scrap bin from a previous project - it was perfect. Hope to play again tonite after work.

Is It March Already???

Hard to believe March is here...and so is the snow!!! We got pounded the other day with unpredicted snow -- my back was so sore from shoveling!! Now tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 60s!!
This card is for a swap I'm in - we needed to use a bella image and a sentiment somewhere on the card. I got this sentiment by Inky Antics the moment I saw it -- it is just so perfect for me!!!!! I love margaritas and it is so true, you can do anything with enough of them. Unfortunately, when I have had enough of them, I end up falling asleep!!!!!!! What a party girl!!!
As for the rest of the card, I used Soft sky and River rock along with Dutch Girl DP from Cosmo Cricket (I love that line by them!!). I know you can't see it, but I used the Sakura clear glaze pen on the cherry and green margarita in the glass. I know Cosmobella is holding a martini, but I changed it to my fave margarita --- remember, with enough of them, you can do anything!!!!!!!!
